Heather Campbell has a varied and extensive background in performance and teaching, having spent the last seventeen years in the professional music scene, as an orchestral player, soloist, ensemble player and flute teacher. For eleven years, Heather held the position of Principal Flutist of the Prince George Symphony Orchestra and later went on to play in the Victoria Symphony Orchestra when a third flutist was needed. Her bright, passionate flute style has been enjoyed not only in B.C. and Ontario but overseas in Cuba and Western Europe as well. She has done flute workshops for both children and adults in Northern B.C., the Vancouver area, and the cities of Richmond Hill and Toronto in Ontario. Her flute teaching has ranged from private lessons to flute groups, from beginner levels right up to advanced levels and from the very young to the very old. She has been instrumental in several of her students qualifying from local music festivals to competition at the provincial level and some going on to post-secondary studies and on to careers in music. Before leaving her teaching position in Prince George, Heather developed and implemented a teacher training program for her senior students enabling one of them to take over. She has also taught and created a curriculum, based on the Orff method to be taught to preschool ages to introduce them to music. Always eager to push the limits, Heather has recently branched out into to teaching band and orchestra programs at the elementary and high school level. Her warm, friendly nature, passion for music and excellent teaching techniques has endeared her to students everywhere she has taught.
