Binjie Helen Lu, Grade 6
Classical Guitar

The Ware Academy of Music is proud to announce that Binjie Helen Lu (daughter of Ying and Yao Don) has been awarded the Silver Medal by the Royal Conservatory of Music for attaining the highest level for Grade 6 Classical Guitar in Ontario for the 2004-2005 academic year.  A student of Lynn Ware, Helen began guitar studies at the Ware Academy of Music with the beginning guitar package deal.  Extremely motivated, Helen soon displayed a mature dedication to music.   She has studied with Lynn Ware for two and a half years and will take her grade 7 performance exam this January.  A student at J. B. Tyrrell, Helen is twelve years old and has completed theory classes including Advanced Rudiments, Basic Harmony (previously Harmony 3), Intermediate Harmony (previously Harmony 4) and History 1 (previously History 3) at the Ware Academy of Music where she also studies piano.

RCM examiner Jeffrey McFadden wrote in his comments:  “this performance shows a great deal of agility and speed” (Bach, Bouree),  “you show a developing use of color and vibrato” (Tarrega, Adelita), “you demonstrate technical and musical command at a high level, the accelerando in the middle section is very impressive, gradual and extensive” (Villa-Lobos), “played at a very fast tempo, your dynamic nuances are excellent” (studies).  Helen will be performing on a Ware Academy of Music recital in the food court of the Market Village on January 8, 2006.

The Ware Academy offers lessons from beginning to advanced levels in piano, guitar, flute, violin and voice with highly qualified nurturing teachers.  Owners of the school, composer Peter Ware and guitarist Lynn Ware, add an extremely personal touch interacting with students and parents directly as the primary instructors of the theory classes for RCM Examinations.  Prospective students and parents are invited to visit the school, meet instructors by appointment and obtain lesson and/or class information.  The Ware Academy of Music is located on the second floor of the Market Village at Steeles and Kennedy Rd.  The web address is: WareAcademyofMusic.com.  Lynn has recorded five CDs of guitar music and writes her own series of history books for RCM Examinations Preparation.
