Lorraine Wu

A native of Taiwan, Lorraine Wu began her early training in Piano at age of five. She attended Manhattan School of Music for both undergraduate and graduate studies under the tutelage of professor Zenon Fishbein. After receiving her masters' degree from Manhattan School of Music in 2007, Miss Wu worked with world-renown pianists such as Bernard Ringeissen (France), Epifanio Comis (Italy) at the Samuel Barber International Music Festival in West Chester, PA.     [More details]

YUKA KOBAYASHI attended the Mount Royal College Academy of Music in Calgary, where she had many opportunities to study with renowned pianists including: Marek Jablonski, Lee Kum Sing, Marc Durand, and Robin Wood. While studying with Marilyn Engle in Calgary, she was an active participant and a winner in various musical festivals and competitions, including the Calgary Kiwanis Festival and the Canadian Music Competition, for which she was awarded first prize in the Provincial division.  Born in Taiwan and raised in Vancouver, Megan Chang completed MM & BM degrees with Marietta Orlov (performance) and Dr. Midori Koga (pedagogy) at the University of Toronto.  She gave her first European solo recital in the summer of 2008 and performed with the UTSO under conductor David Briskin in 2010. In 2007, she placed third in her category in the CMC competition. She received her ARCT in Flute in 2005 under Susan Hoeppener. [More details]

Before coming to Canada, she taught at the Liu Shikun Piano Art Centre, Cathy Future Education Group and Fu Yun Piano School in Tianjin. M.M. & B.M., Flute Performance.

Recognized for her dedication and musicality, Mexican flutist and piccolist Alheli Pimienta is in demand as a solo recitalist and chamber musician. Appearances include venues in Mexico, the United States, and France. She has performed in youth and professional symphony orchestras throughout Mexico, the University of Idaho Symphony Orchestra, the Washington-Idaho Symphony, and the Walla Walla Symphony, both as guest soloist and flute or piccolo chair. Appreciated for her technical abilities and interpretation, Alheli has won national and international competitions such as The Crescendo Music Awards where she was awarded the Gold Medal as the first woodwind player to receive this honor, the National Flute Competition "Gildardo Mojica" in Mexico City where she won the second placement, the Seattle Women Music Competition, and the Concerto/Aria Competitions of the University of Idaho winning first and second prizes in multiple occasions.

Alexa Ball

ALEXA BALL holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Toronto, where she majored in flute under Peg Albrecht.  In the summer of 2009, she studied with world-renown flautist William Bennett and Denis Bouriakov.  She has performed on flute/piccolo with the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra, the University of Toronto Flute Choir and the University of Toronto Wind Ensemble.  Alexa fosters creativity and encourages students to develop their own musical interpretations.  [More details]

Thomas Dowling teaches at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Music. He has his BME Timple University and his MM Cleveland Institute of Music in Clarinet Performance.  He studied clarinet with: Stanley Hasty, Robert Marcellus, and Leon Russianoff. He has been a member of the West Point Military Band, The Music-In-Maine Woodwind Quintet, The National Ballet of Canada, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and The O'Keefe Centre Orchestra. Peter Pinteric's university teachers include Stephen Pierre and Burt Hara.  At the Glenn Gould School, he studies with Joaquin Valdepeñas, clarinetist of the TSO.  A scholarship winner in the Aspen Music Festival and School, he has studied/performed with clarinetists and conductors such as Kimball Sykes, David Bourque, Bil Jackson, Robert Spano, Larry Rachleff, Tomáš Netopil, Jacques Lacombe, Alain Trudel, and Sir Andrew Davis.
