Terry Lim, Flute, Piccolo and Fife Teacher

As a passionate teacher, Terry imparts his beautiful tone, intonation, musicality and rhythmic precision to students. Terry offers students a mature, patient approach and communicates with parents to help establish suitable goals. His students excel on exams and competitions. Currently his student won the RCMusic Gold Medal in Flute for Grade 9, won the highest grade in Woodwinds for Grater Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival level 9 flute, and won the Highest Grade for Woodwinds level 9 in the OMFA! His students have majored in flute Performance at McGill University, University of British Columbia and University of Toronto.

Described as “imaginative and magical”, Terry Lim is a multifaceted flutist known for musical risk taking and brilliant artistry. He received his Bachelor of Music degree with an international soloist, Lorna Mcghee, at the University of British Columbia and completed his Master of Music degree at New York University with a renowned flutist, Bradley Garner. Terry was also a former faculty member at the UBC Summer Music Institute and New York University. Terry has performed in various music festivals and concert series across North America, including Ottawa International Chamberfest, Stratford Summer Music, Toronto Summer Music Festival, Banff Centre, Redshift Society, Music on Main, New Music Edmonton and Pierre Monteux. He also has been heard on the radio and in concert halls throughout the United States, Canada and Asia, performing at the Chan Center, Kimmel Center, Carnegia Hall, DiMenna Center, Alice Tully Hall, and Merkin Hall. Additionally, as an energetic proponent for chamber and contemporary music, Terry has worked closely with numerous composers and has given several world premieres. Terry is also a member of Toronto-based ensemble, Thin Edge New Music Collective and Charm of Finches. Availability: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Wednesday.

Kitty Tang, Flute and Fife Teacher

A native of Ecuador, Maria is pursuing the artist diploma program at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music. Her primary teachers include Dr. Martha Councell, Trudy Kane and Susan Hoeppner. In 2014, Marie won the competition to represent WMU School of Music in a recital at Weill Recital Hall-Carnegie Hall in New York City organized by Manhattan Concert Productions. She has studied and performed in the Bonita Boyd Masterclass (NY), LIU Post Chamber Music Festival (NY), Anatomy of Sound (MI), Flutist Festival (Colombia) and International Convention of Flutists (Ecuador). Kitty Tang, Flute and Fife Teacher

At York, Kitty studied flute with Barbara Ackerman and performed in the Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. Outside university, she has performed with Kindred Spirits Orchestra and the Canadian Flute Choir. As a teacher, she brings warmth and enthusiasm to her teaching. Availability: Tue. Sat. Sun.
